At your initial visit, you will meet with a physician to determine the appropriateness of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy for you. If TMS is an option, we will make arrangements for your treatments. A full course of TMS is about 30 sessions administered daily Monday to Friday.
- Your treatment will be administered by a nurse practitioner or by a certified health care staff member under the physician’s supervision.
- You will be awake, resting comfortably in a reclining chair while receiving treatments. Each treatment lasts about 40 minutes.
- Magnetic pulses may feel like a tapping sensation on the scalp. You may experience some discomfort on the scalp during the treatment or mild post-treatment headache.
- You will be able to resume your daily activities such as working or driving immediately following your treatment.
- During the TMS course, our psychiatrist will meet with you periodically to monitor your response to treatment.
